The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program at Stanford University cultivates a diverse, interdisciplinary community of rising leaders from across the globe and mentors them as they prepare to solve society’s complex problems. Scholarship value/inclusions/duration
Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive:
- A grant allocated directly to tuition and related expenses for each of their first three years of graduate study.
- A stipend to cover living and educational costs (such as room and board, books, academic supplies, instructional materials, local transportation, and reasonable personal expenses).
- A traveling-stipend to cover the cost of an economy-class ticket to and from Stanford once a year.
Knight-Hennessy Scholars may also be eligible for additional funding to help with academic enrichment (e.g., conference travel).
Knight-Hennessy Scholars at Stanford University For 2021 – Eligibility
There are two essential criteria for qualifying.
- You must apply to, be accepted by, and enroll in a full-time Stanford graduate degree program in addition to enrolling in Knight-Hennessy Scholars. Each entering Knight-Hennessy Scholar must be a first-year student enrolled in a Stanford graduate program, such as the DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or Ph.D. There are no discipline or program-specific quotas. It should be noted that individuals who plan to spend at least two years at Stanford will be given preferential consideration.
- You must have received a U.S. bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution or university in January 2015 or later. You must have obtained a bachelor’s degree by January 2015 or later to apply for the cohort in 2022 and you must have gotten a bachelor’s degree by January 2016 or later to apply for the cohort in 2023.

You must apply to both the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program and your Stanford graduate degree program separately to be eligible for the award. The Knight Hennessy Program has a deadline of October 6, 2021. You must check the application deadline for your program on the program’s website, which is typically sooner.
