Helmholtz-Zentrum International undergraduate students can enroll in the eight-week HZB Summer Student Program in Berlin. Under the guidance of HZB scientists with expertise in photon science, photovoltaics, chemical energy, solar energy, accelerators, electrochemical energy storage, quantum, and functional materials, 20 students will have the opportunity to research a project of their choice.
The summer internship program will allow students to work with research professionals in state-of-the-art laboratories at the HZB Berlin campuses. These laboratories are used for various energy conversion studies. Additionally, they will learn how to use energy and power creatively in various innovative fields. Anyone interested in making a difference in climate change can do so through this international summer program.
Students will visit the Research Center BESSY II accelerator during this eight-week paid International Summer Student Program (ISSP), where they will be able to observe the equipment and machinery used to store and accelerate electrons. The program will involve students in workshops covering science communication and entrepreneurship. The program will conclude with a scientific poster presentation as the closing ceremony.
During their stay in Germany, participants can meet and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. Students will gain hands-on experience using scientific equipment while working in laboratories on their research projects. This experience will help them succeed in their later endeavors.

Benefits of the 2024 HZB Summer Student Program in Germany:
For 75% of the visits, students from EU countries will receive a grant of 200 euros, while students from non-EU countries will receive a grant of 800 euros. As a subsistence stipend, 900 euros will be given to international students studying at Berlin and Potsdam universities and 1.000 euros to domestic students. Eligibility Criteria for 2024 HZB Summer Student Program:
Study at the undergraduate level in a subject related to engineering, mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry, life sciences, or environmental sciences.
Complete at least four semesters of college to earn the required degree. Enroll in the HZB program alongside your current university. Acquire English communication skills.

Students have to apply online using the form available on the website. The application must be submitted by the last date. All necessary documents must accompany the application.

Attend the entire eight-week program. Work 40 hours per week. Complete the study assignment during the stipulated time from July 1 to August 23, 2024.
